This intensive pragmatic business English language course aims to help Chinese executives, managers and business personnel learning English for business purposes. It is particularly designed to help those Chinese companies in service sectors who need to equip their front-line personnel with necessary English proficiency skills to handle working situations.
Learning Methodology: Language is learnt through listening and speaking to others. We adopt Listening-based Multisensory Synchro-Learning Approach (L-MSL) developed by 121 Chinese Lessons. This is an interactive-learning approach which emphases listening-based synchronisation of listening, speaking, reading and writing practice in repetition for a fast, easy and effective master of a foreign language. Through this scientific based method, participants are expected to learn new vocabulary and sentence structures through conversational practices and fun activities.
Content and Structure: The course contents will focus on communicative skills and practical business elements to prepare participants for real business interactions. The programme will consist of the following three parts – Business English Gateway, Business Service English Essentials and Language Exchange Forum.
Private one-to-one tutorials will also be available for participants to have lessons on their own preferred timetable, or to tailor to their specific business areas.
1. Business English Gateway
Description: This is a conversational business English course for beginners. It aims to improve the listening comprehension and speaking abilities of students in an intensive interactive atmosphere. The course will be taught by native English language teachers in the UK. Participants study in a small group consisting of no more than 10 people. They will study pronunciation and how to conduct the most basic conversations in daily life and business routines, covering topics featuring four basic living needs – food, clothing, living and neighborhood, as well as business elements, such as self-introduction, organisation introduction, office routines, making enquiries and filling up forms, etc.
Duration: 60 hours (20 sessions, 3 hours per session)
Learning Outcome: to have a solid foundation in English pronunciation; able to understand and construct simple sentences on familiar topics, and handle short exchanges and basic conversations, as well as understand and write simple English.
2. Business Service English Essentials
Description: This is an intensive intermediate level of business English language course designed for people working in the service and retail industry. The course will help service sectors personnel to acquire the essential business communication skills that are relevant to everyday social and workplace scenarios in service industry. The course will be delivered by native English language teachers in the UK. Participants study in a small group consisting of no more than 10 people. They will learn to communicate in a range of business topics relating to customer service, such as receiving and welcoming customers, different greeting forms and salutations, communicating, defining customer needs, offering customer assistance, taking payments, handling complaints, refunds and exchanges, etc.
Duration: 60 hours (20 sessions, 3 hours per session)
Learning Outcome: to have a good understanding of business service English communication style with necessary oral and basic written communication skills for business situations in service industry; equipped with the skill-set in language and knowledge, to engage confidently in English for their daily workplace activities.
3. Language Exchange Forum
Description: Live language exchange is the most practical and effective way for any language learning. This English-Chinese Language Exchange Forum is an integral part of Business English Training programme, which not only offers participants an exclusive learning opportunity for cracking down their communication barriers while using a foreign language, it also creates opportunities for culture exchange through lively communications and interactions with native English speakers.
Duration: 3 hours guided One-to-One language exchange at weekends
